What's it really like working at Hudson?

We asked a few of our recruitment consultants to give us an insight into what they used to do, why they chose recruitment at Hudson, and what they like about working here.

Denver, Consultant – Project Services, Melbourne

After leading a sales team of 30 in my previous role, I was looking to pursue a different career path. I was considering a career in business analytics and met up with two consultants from Hudson. Immediately I was moved by how passionate they were about what they do. That’s what drew me in to recruitment.

As someone who’s participated and run training courses, I was very impressed with the training offered at Hudson. It had a balance of practical and theory which helped me set up for success in my recruitment career.

What I find most inspiring here is that the business gives you the freedom and trust to run your desk your way. This creates a culture where everyone is supportive and passionate about what they do. No matter the daily challenges, everyone’s got a smile on their face and this is why I’m pumped to come into work every morning.

Amber, Executive Consultant – Project Services, Canberra

Prior to Hudson, I worked at a telecommunications company for 10 years. I was looking for a change and a friend of mine told me that I’d make a good recruiter. After speaking with them about a career in recruitment, I jumped ship and I haven’t looked back.

Coming from a renowned telecommunications organisation, I knew how important it was to work for a reputable company. That is why I chose Hudson.

Hudson empowers you to manage your practice like it’s your own business. This means your success is determined by the effort, drive and decisions that you put in.

I built my desk from the ground up and have grown it so significantly that I am now one of the top three billers in the country.

I have built a name for myself in the industry and I get a lot of repeat businesses and referrals from candidates and clients. I really love what I do and am proud of my achievements!

Angus, Managing Consultant – Project Services, Melbourne

After university, I worked in a job where I was helping people with disabilities and found it rewarding to be able to impact the lives of others. In 2012 I took a role at Hudson in the UK because I was attracted to the idea of helping people navigate their career ambitions while being rewarded and recognised for my own work.

Now I’m back in Melbourne and still working for Hudson because it’s great to work for a company whose values are aligned to my own. It’s motivating to work with like-minded people who are driven to achieve success and act with integrity.

At Hudson, I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate and help my colleagues recognise their potential. As a Managing Consultant, I can continue to support others achieve their career objectives while realising my ambitions.

Aaron, Manager – Technology & Digital, Perth

Before joining Hudson, I worked at a number of other recruitment agencies. On reflection I believe this has given me a solid understanding of what leads to success. I have now been with Hudson for almost a decade and have never looked back. For me, it just works on every level.

The key to my longevity has to be the strong relationships I’ve formed with both my peers and the local management team. The culture here is second to none. You are empowered to be successful and have a lot fun doing it!

Unlike some other firms, our Consultants are treated as adults, which means you can run your desk like your own business. Rather than focusing on just the numbers, we’re encouraged to emphasise outcomes aimed at helping our candidates and clients succeed, which is more enjoyable for everyone.

I have also been afforded countless opportunities during my time with Hudson and have been promoted a number of times. I am now a Manager of the Technology and Digital business in Perth and have been overseeing my team for the last few years.

On a personal level this has been really rewarding to see them grow in confidence and succeed under my guidance.
